Impact

Why showing up matters.

Run 4 Awareness Guam is organized by Reef Pursuit International Inc. The event supports Guam Diabetes Association and Famagu’on Fishing Camp: Future Generation Anglers, and it funds diabetes awareness and a free community health screening. The proceeds allocation will be posted after final confirmation.

~1 in 5Guam adults are estimated to be living with diabetes, diagnosed or not (IDF Diabetes Atlas, 2025). Guam’s own health survey counts about 1 in 8 adults as diagnosed.

Guam’s own health survey puts diagnosed diabetes near 1 in 8 adults and rising; international estimates that include undiagnosed cases put it closer to 1 in 5. People on Guam die from diabetes at a rate about 78 percent higher than the US mainland, and it sits among the island’s top leading causes of death. Diabetes is also a leading cause of vision loss, which is why the 2026 theme is Sight in Motion.

Much of this is preventable, and much of it is manageable, when it is caught early. That is what awareness, screening, and movement are for.

We publish the results after every run.

Within a week of race day we post the count that matters: participants, funds raised, youth supported, sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and screenings provided. Every year’s results stay on the site, in the past runs archive, so the record grows rather than resets. Sponsors and donors get a short report showing exactly where the money went.

Run 4 Awareness Guam is organized by Reef Pursuit International Inc., which also receives donations. The event supports Guam Diabetes Association and Famagu’on Fishing Camp: Future Generation Anglers. Reef Pursuit is a 501(c)(4), so donations are generally not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. The proceeds allocation, the registration-fee recipient, and the exact receipt wording will be posted after final confirmation.

A race entry is a registration fee, not a donation. Donations are separate and do not register anyone. We do not promise a fixed amount per entry unless that has been committed in writing.
